The Best John Turturro Films on Satellite TV in Las Vegas, Nevada
The career of John Turturro is almost unthinkable in terms of quality and consistency. In a profession that seems driven by salary and ego concerns, Turturro has managed to appear in quality film after quality film. It's no secret why the best directors in Hollywood can't make a film without him: Spike Lee and the Coen brothers seem to write a part for Turturro specially into every film project they start. And what parts! Lee's famous Do the Right Thing doesn't quite make this list, but Turturro's role in The Big Lebowski is hard to top. Here are John's top five films now playing on satellite TV in Las Vegas, Nevada.
5. O Brother, Where Art Thou? The Coen brothers seem to have Turturro on speed dial, and whether it's a comedy or a taut thriller, he'll deliver the goods. In this case, a wild romp based on Homer's Odyssey finds John along with escaped convicts George Clooney and Tim Blake Nelson bumbling across the deep South. Look out for the Harpies, John. This wild film -- one of Mitt Romney's favorite movies -- is featured on satellite TV networks like HBO.
4. Quiz Show. The scandal that rocked the conservative American TV-watching public in the 1950s gets the full treatment in this Robert Redford directed film. Turturro plays the ex-Army man Herbie Stempel, a quiz show winner who's not quite ready for prime time television. Instead, the producers see a much more photogenic Ralph Fiennes as the next quiz show whiz.
3. Miller's Crossing. The Coen brothers made a truly high quality film in this adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's The Glass Key. Turturro plays the thorn in everyone's side, Bernie Bernbaum, preferred dead by both the Irish and Italian mobs. Fortunately, his sister has boyfriends in both camps (and Gabriel Byrne to help guarantee Bernie's safety). This film is a fixture on the Independent Film Channel in high definition.
2. The Big Lebowski. For a film that showcased a main character known as "The Dude" and a paranoid ex-GI who pretends he is Jewish, it took a really strange character to stir up any trouble. Fortunately, the Coen brothers were prepared with Turturro's character, known as "The Jesus." One of the scariest, most hilarious performances of all time comes courtesy of Turturro in this film, showing on satellite TV premium movie networks.
1. Barton Fink. One of the biggest critical successes of Turturro's career came via this Coen brothers film, based loosely on the life of 1930s novelist Nathanael West. While Turturro's Fink character struggles to write the simplest of wrestling films in Hollywood, neighbor John Goodman is more than happy to demonstrate what a body slam feels like. One of the most mysterious endings make this film a winner on Las Vegas, Nevada satellite TV networks.
John Turturro can be seen in some his greatest films on cable tv in Las Vegas, Nevada, but if you want to catch every movie and watch it whenever you want, opt for the DIRECTV packages available now.
