Lake Las Vegas Ice Skating
While ice skating may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Christmas in Las Vegas, even without the snow, the floating skating rink at Lake Las Vegas holds on to the traditional Christmas pastime.
For the fourth year, Lake Las Vegas kicked off the holiday season with their floating Rockefeller Center sized skating rink. The ice rink floats on the 320-acre lake, off the shore of MonteLago Village and is open to skaters of all ages. It uses 110 five gallon buckets of water and 12, 000-pound chiller unit to help keep the ice cold, and can hold up to 60 skaters at a time.
Starting off the holidays in Las Vegas, Lake Las Vegas Resort hosted it's ceremonial tree lighting, with an appearance by Santa Claus and a special musical performance by Green Valley Choir and Helen Joy Choir on Friday, November 16.
Marketing Director Cary Krukowski says "Every year we love to create an environment that brings families closer together, builds festive traditions and allows us to be part of their memories."
The Lake Las Vegas ice rink is open every day from noon to 9 p.m. through February 17. The cost is $15 per person, $12 for children 12 years of age and under. Groups of 20 or more are $8 a person and season passes are also available for $125 (including the cost of skate rentals).
Lake Las Vegas is host to other fun and holiday-themed events as well. The popular annual gingerbread competition runs daily until December 22nd, as well as holiday shopping and visits from Santa Claus at Monte Lago until December 23rd.

Las Vegas Wedding Planners?
We are looking into getting married in Vegas in October 2007 and I have just started looking into things, prices, venues, etc.
Was looking at Lake Las Vegas resort, but am thinking its to quiet of a place, and may be to pricey for some people to stay at. So can a person just have the ceremony there on the yacht without staying there or having the reception there?
If not, then I was thinking of something along the lines of the ceremony being outside by a pool with a waterfall and tiki torches/candles or something along those lines.
And the reception I was thinking of having it at some fun and lively pub type place with a dance floor, maybe a band, but thats good for ages 21- 70. We dont really have a set budget but "I" would like to keep it under 15,000. Would like a fun, somewhat unique theme maybe, that will keep people from just leaving and heading to a casino. If you know what I mean? lol. Any ideas? I am open to suggestions on where I should start without having to fly down there for the weekend beforehand.
Some places that people have mentioned to me are:
Ceasars Palace Venus Garden or Pool ceremony , reception at La Salsa Cantina, Cleopatras Barge, Mesa Grill
Ceremony by the pool at the Mirage
Chapel at Excalibur
The Rio for both ceremony and reception.... Voodoo Lounge .....but then I have also heard that this place is kind of run down.

Any input on any of those?
I have already been on all the websites and searched the venues, etc. I am asking for peoples input on where they would recommend

COMINGS & GOINGS
12 Nov 2006 at 12:00am Bugsy Siegel would be impressed. Developers at the Lake Las Vegas Resort not only took nearly 10 years to construct a 320-acre lake in the middle of the desert, on Friday they will also introduce a floating ice skating rink atop that lake. The rink, which depends on 110 five-gallon buckets of water and a 12,000-pound freezer, accommodates up to 60...Read more...
